Blue Compactor Services, LLC. is a provider of waste and recycling compaction equipment. We offer field service in Minnesota and the surrounding area which includes; install, repair, maintenance and sales.
Our excellent service provides commercial and industrial businesses with installation, repair, and sales of compactors, balers and metal fabrication. Blue Compactor provides a parts inventory covering hydraulic, electrical, and structural components for many types of waste and recycling equipment. Our fabrication and repair shop in Lakeville, MN has 20,000 square feet of workspace and 4 acres of storage.
We offer both new and reconditioned stationary and self-contained compactors, and balers for virtually every waste and recycling application. In addition to equipment, we offer a scheduled planned maintenance programs. Every install is custom fabricated to meet the needs of each client while ensuring a safe and productive product.
Blue Compactor has an opening for a full-time, experienced Service Technician to work on our compactors and baling equipment. We are looking for a dedicated employee with skills to help deliver top notch service to our rapidly growing customer base.
?h Diagnose and repair equipment including compactors and balers
?h Repairs or replaces parts as directed by a work order system. Completes field service reports in a work order system
?h Overhauls or replaces machine components and replace worn items
?h Communicates with supervisor and/or equipment operators for clarification of problems. May discuss preventive techniques with equipment users to minimize future repairs
?h Independently troubleshoot and maintain complex electromechanical equipment
?h Installs and sets up new equipment and communicates with vendors regarding our service
?h Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent
?h Welding and/or fabrication skills and/or experience
?h Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
?h Maintains a clean and safe work area, adheres to all safety policies and procedures
?h Follows standard operating procedures
?h Cleans and organizes equipment
?h Assists to prepare equipment for rent or sale
?h Provides assistance to all other levels of technicians as needed in regard to troubleshooting repairs
?h Performs other duties as assigned/required
?h Maintains paperwork documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily/job basis
?h Documents labor, addition of segments, assuring that work order can be closed and billed as communicated with the customer
?h Positively interacts with manager and team members to satisfy customer needs
?h Communicates effectively with both internal and external customers
?h 2-year technical degree in Industrial Maintenance or high school diploma/GED and several years of comparable shop maintenance experience
?h Working knowledge of hydraulics, components, electrical, welding, and fabrication
?h Industrial experience in: welding/fabrication; hydraulics; pneumatics; blueprint OR schematic reading; predictive maintenance (PdM) and preventative maintenance (PM); pumps; mechanical drives; and material handling equipment
?h Class B CDL preferred; Class B CDL Permit minimum
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
?h Ability to use typical hand and mechanics tools and inspection gages
?h Ability to work from drawings, verbal instructions, or sketches
?h Ability to work safely with cleaners, lubricants, and other chemicals as needed
?h Ability to work in an area with moderate noise (forklift traffic, conveyor system, etc.)
?h Ability to work in a confined area
?h Ability to frequently and safely push, pull, bend, twist, sit, stand, kneel, squat and occasionally lift up to 70 pounds
?h Working ability to read and follow written and oral instructions and to hear at a level sufficient to communicate with staff
?h Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
?h Ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers, customers, and supervisors
?h Ability to maintain a strong attention to detail
?h Ability to communicate effectively and proficiently in both oral and written form
?h Ability to work overtime as needed
?h Ability to adhere to company rules and regulations
?h Basic computer skills
?h Own mechanic tool set
?h Ability to maintain safe and clean work environment
?h Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, boots, and hearing protection)
?h Ability and desire to work successfully in a small, family owned environment
