Responsible for planning and implementing the daily classroom lesson plans and ensuring the health and safety of children in the classroom.
-Plan and prepare lesson plans, and submit to Director on a weekly basis.
-Oversee and facilitate the general safety of the classroom environment and activities.
-Interact with children through instructional methods to include play, music, arts and crafts, reading, writing, computer and physical activities.
-Assist children when necessary to enhance learning skills and complete projects.
-Monitor the talents, special abilities, disabilities, deficiencies or problems of each individual child, and document evaluations on a weekly basis.
-Promote and foster each child’s positive self-esteem and individual development toward their fullest potential in the areas of physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth.
-Prepare thorough evaluations for each child on a yearly basis or as needed.
-Establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with all children, parents/guardians and fellow staff.
-Assist children with general hygiene practices including bathroom and cleanliness needs.
-Share pertinent information, suggestions or ideas with co-workers on a regular basis.
-Supervise daily activities of Assistant Teachers.
-Document daily activities of children on appropriate paperwork.
-Complete appropriate paperwork to place orders for supplies in a timely manner.
-Attend in-service training, conferences, staff meetings, and parent/guardian meetings as required.
-Perform general cleaning duties as necessary.
-Maintain equipment and materials in safe and efficient manner.
-Maintain classrooms and storage areas in a neat and orderly manner.
-Perform other related duties as assigned.
Degree: 2 Year Associate Degree, Bachelors Degree, CDA (Child Development Associate), Rasmussen College Degree
Prior child care experience required.
